Where to stay

North Goa or South Goa — how we choose a base

Most people do not need both coasts in one week. Moving house mid-trip costs a day. We usually pick one base that matches the group, then add a single day trip if you really want the other side.

Stay north when

You want cafés, a Wednesday market, and short hops between dinner and the beach. Assagao, Siolim and the Anjuna hinterland are the usual asks — village houses, not a hotel corridor.

Airport transfers are slightly simpler to the north. That matters with children or a late flight.

Stay south when

You want longer sand, fewer scooters at night, and mornings that stay quiet. Cabo de Rama and the river villages are slower than Palolem town on a peak weekend.

If wellness is half the reason you came, inland south/central often beats a beach shack soundtrack.

Splitting the trip

Two bases make sense on 10+ nights or when one person wants nightlife and another wants sleep. Under a week, one good house usually wins.

When to go

Peak winter fills the north first. If your dates are late December, say so early — we will be honest about what is left rather than invent a spare villa.
