Goa festivals — typical months, not this year’s dates
Festival weeks change the feel of a trip more than a beach name does. This page lists the usual months. It is not a 2026 timetable. Parish notices, the Church calendar, and the state tourism site set the actual days — check them the year you travel.
Carnival — usually mid-February
Floats, music, and crowded north-strip evenings. Dates move with the Church calendar, not a brochure. If you want sleep more than a parade, pick another week or stay south of the noise.
We will not invent a route or a “Carnival package” here. If you want to be near it, say so on the enquiry and we will be honest about how loud the house will be.
Shigmo — typically March
A spring festival with processions in several towns. Local calendars decide the days. Village roads can close; a beach day is often simpler than chasing every float.
Christmas and New Year
Late December is the busiest stretch of the year: houses fill first, prices rise, and the north is loud. If those dates are fixed, write early. We still will not invent a spare villa on this page.
Other weeks people ask about
Ganesh Chaturthi usually falls in August or September — monsoon weather still applies. Easter moves. Neither is a reason to invent a crowd score.
If a festival is the point of the trip, tell us which one. We will check that year’s dates before we talk about a house.
When to go
Winter peak is already tight before you add a festival. Shoulder months are quieter. Monsoon weeks pause a lot of sea work regardless of a feast day.
