Season

Goa in the monsoon — when rain is the point

Monsoon Goa is a different trip. The laterite turns green, the sea is often closed for fun, and the good days are inland — a waterfall if the trail is safe, Ayurveda, a house with a verandah. We will not sell you diving in July.

What works

Quiet villas, cooking at home, short village drives, spice-belt walks when roads allow, and wellness programmes that like the humidity.

Waterfalls and sanctuary trails depend on rain that week. We check locally; a washed-out road is a reason to stay in, not a reason to push.

What we pause

Most boat days, island dives, and cliff jumps. Some beach shacks close. If your heart is set on Grand Island, come after the sea settles — typically from October.

Who it is for

People who like rain, lower rates, and empty cafés. Not for a first-time “beach holiday” if you need guaranteed swim days.

When to go

The core wet months are roughly June to September. October is often the sweet shoulder: still green, sea opening up. Exact weeks vary — ask with your dates.
