A classic loop is Kochi for a night or two, Alleppey or Kumarakom for the water, then Munnar or Wayanad when you want cool air. You do not need all of it. Two anchors are often better than four rushed ones.
If wellness is on your mind, inland Ayurveda sits more naturally here than on a busy beach strip. We can keep that gentle — or keep the trip purely about place and food.
Places people ask for most
Not a complete atlas — just the stops that come up again and again when we plan this region.
Alleppey / Kumarakom
Houseboat nights or a quiet lakeside stay — the water is the whole point.
Munnar
Tea slopes, cool evenings, and walks that do not need to be strenuous.
Fort Kochi
Harbour light, cafés, and a soft landing after (or before) the backwaters.
Wayanad
Greener, quieter hills — good when Munnar feels too familiar.
Varkala or a quieter coast stretch
Only if you want a beach chapter; easy to skip if you prefer inland.
Things worth doing
- A night on the water without overloading the boat with stops
- Spice or tea walks with someone who actually works the land
- Kathakali or a small performance in Kochi — optional, not mandatory
- Ayurveda days inland if rest is half the reason you came
When to go
October to March is easiest for travel. Monsoon (June–September) is lush and quieter — beautiful if you like rain and do not mind wet roads.
